Divination (2020)
Twelve photographs, one a month, each exploring a different tradition of foretelling the future: chiromancy, tasseography, palmistry, scrying, and more besides. Where the Diptychs the year before had paired images around a single intimate theme, Divination let each month stand alone, borrowing the trappings of fortune-telling — cards, tea leaves, an upturned palm — to build a small, moody tableau.
It was, in hindsight, a fitting theme for the year it arrived in: twelve attempts to read what was coming, sent out into considerable uncertainty.
Twelve traditions, one a month, January through December. What follows is the full series, in order.
