Pendulum Divination
Older than any single tradition claims it, pendulum divination is almost insultingly simple: suspend a weight from a chain or cord, hold it still, and let its own small movements — a swing, a circle, a stillness — answer a question the diviner already knows how to ask.
The tray beneath it is set less for the pendulum’s benefit than for the room’s: a rock crystal, a strand of jet beads, a last swallow of wine before the answer comes.
