Assorted Paraphernalia

Divination opened the year with no single method in mind — instead, an overture: a crystal ball for scrying, a handful of wands bundled like something between kindling and a rune-caster’s set, a glass filled with dark stones. Twelve months of fortune-telling, gathered first as raw materials before any one tradition took its turn.

Below the tray, a scatter of smaller keepsakes — a photograph, a tasseled cord, two wax-sealed envelopes — hint at correspondences still to come.
