Crystallomancy

Scrying by crystal ball — crystallomancy, properly — asks the diviner to look not at the crystal but into it, past its surface, for shapes and impressions that a plain mirror or a bowl of water wouldn’t hold.

What the sphere gives back here is mostly the room itself, warped and doubled across its curve — which is, perhaps, the most honest thing a crystal ball has ever shown anyone.
