Cheese
January opened, as it so often did, with a board built for sharing — a wheel of ripe brie, dark salami curled at its edges, grapes bruised sweet, dried apricots and blackberries scattered like an afterthought. Nothing rationed, nothing plated; just abundance, arranged.
And then abundance met appetite. Hands from every direction — offering, reaching, breaking bread — turned the composed board into something more like a conversation, each guest claiming a share before the candlelight burned low.
