Eyes

August’s flat lay was a study in contour and shadow: a well-worn neutral eyeshadow palette, false lashes still in their case, a curler, a coiled leather belt standing in for punctuation.

The eyes themselves, once made up, did the rest of the talking — a long look back at the camera, compact still open in hand, daring anyone to look away first.
