Stockings
April paired a dresser’s flat lay of sheer stockings, opera gloves, and patent heels with the moment just before those things are worn: a stocking drawn taut, a garter clasp fastened into place.
There is a particular, unhurried attention in that small mechanical act — the click of a clasp — that the composed half of the diptych, all lace and leather laid flat, can only gesture toward.
